RUSAL says aluminum output rises 0.7% to 949,000 tns in Oct–Dec

MOSCOW, Feb 28 (PRIME) -- The aluminum production of Russia’s UC RUSAL grew 0.7% on the quarter to 949,000 tonnes in October–December, the company said in a statement on Friday.

Alumina production rose 4.7% to 2.05 million tonnes, bauxite one grew 2% to 4.026 million tonnes, nepheline ore 5.6% to 1.074 million tonnes. Output of tin foil and packaging was 25,000 tonnes.

In 2019, RUSAL’s aluminum output remained flat on the year at 3.757 million tonnes.

Alumina production rose by 1.1% to 7.858 million tonnes, bauxite output grew by 15.9% to 16.047 million tonnes, production of nepheline ore fell by 1.1% to 4.244 million tonnes. Output of tin foil and packaging grew by 10.2% to 98,000 tonnes.

Aluminum sales in October–December rose 1.5% on the quarter to 1.107 million tonnes. High added-value product sales grew 3.1% to 443,000 tonnes.

In 2019, sales of aluminum grew 13.8% to 4.176 million tonnes, high added value product sales fell 7% to 1.547 million tonnes.

RUSAL said it expects growth of global demand on primary aluminum by 1.3% to 66.1 million tonnes in 2020.
